History

Taurus was started by Fojas Taurus in Brazil more than 60 years ago and started making it's first revolver in 1941.  Now one of the worlds largest firearm manufactures.

They began and received much of their growth while working in the south American markets, but in 1968 developed distributors in the U.S.

In 1970 S&W was purchased along with 54% of Taurus and making the two companies sister companies.  This ended up probably helping S&W more than Taurus because of the exchange of ideas that went between the companies.

In 1977 the reigning owners purchased 54% of Taurus and began to work on Taurus quality and manufacturing techniques.  This kicked off an expansion of the company.

When Beretta sold it's factory in Brazil in 1980 it was purchased by Taurus, and what made this great was they received everything that Beretta had at the factory and skilled labor ti boot.  Taurus worked on Beretta's designs and created the popular Taurus PT-92 and PT-99.

Once Taurus opened up a plant in Miami, it took awhile for the manufacture to catch on here in the U.S.  They didn't have the advantage of much advertising and visibility.  This was all behind them after the 1984 S.H.O.T show where they announces a lifetime repair on all of there guns.  This was the first company to have such a policy.

In 1994 Taurus was recognized for it's superior manufacturing and marketing practices known as ISO 9001.  They also had recieved American Rifleman Handgun of the Year in 2012 for the 740 Taurus Slim.

Did you know?

That Liam Nelson used the Taurus Millennium Pro PT111 in the movie Taken?  That is one my favorite movies...

I love seeing what weapons actors use in their films,  did you know the popular Taurus Judge was used in Max Payne by Mark Wahlberg?
